CRUELTY FREE BEAUTY PRODUCTS FOR VALENTINE'S DAY

Hi-ya, gorgeous,

Let's talk!

All beauty girls (and guys) understand the fundamentals of playing up your God-given features with a peach hue on the cheeks or red stain on the lips. Heck, we can even redefine our noses and cheek bones with a fierce contour!

But, what if I told you those beauty products we adorn over aren't using cruelty-free ingredients? In fact, 100 million animals are tested and tortured each year for the sake of providing us our favorite date-night looks. This post is not to upset you, but rather provide awareness.

Animal testing dates back to the 1920s and although the history is dark, we can start making adjustments to transition towards a cruelty-free 21st century. In fact, there are over 7,000 safe ingredients cosmetic companies can choose from to create their products. Ingredients that don't need to be tested on animals, as they have already been approved and proven safe.
To read more on the topic of animal testing, check out the Cruelty Free Kitty . This blogger has in-depth knowledge and facts to back up her statements, and I highly recommend her informative reads.

To shop for great beauty products without the guilt, check out my picks below! With Valentine's coming up, there's no better time to look for some goodies to make you feel and look like a goddess, and you'll be doing some good for little Rupert, also. Just think, the more you spend on products that don't test on animals, the sooner the testing will become obsolete and that's a beautiful thing to look forward to! #squadgoals

TRY THIS JUICE BY OPEN SOURCE ORGANICS

Open Source Organics

"Raw. Vegan. 100% Organic" - Open Source Organics

Talk about being in the right place at the right time! About a year ago, I did a three mile hike in the West Hollywood hills area, and upon my final steps back to the parking lot, a food truck was waiting there. Being a girly girl and a lover of country-chic designs and clean lines, I locked my eyes on the cute mason jar full of juice. They were large in size, and if I recall correctly, about $9.

"Hmm...Not bad," I thought, for something that was vegan, healthy and only made up of simple ingredients.

I was excited to try it, and picked out my juice, "Apple Pucker."

The gluten-free, 100 percent organic and "made with LOVE," mixture of apple, lemon and mint tasted delicious, and its mojito resemblance (sans alcohol and additional sugar) was the perfect resource my body needed post-cardio sesh.

For weeks, er, months after that initial meet and greet, I couldn't forget that juice. Something about it was just THAT different to me. Thankfully through a diligent search and determination to not give up, I found out the name of the company that made this joyous concoction, Open Source Organics, and the rest is history.

If you're a foodie, like to live healthy, on a special diet, or just want to try something new, check them out. You'll be happy you did.

Open Monday-Sunday 7 am - 8 pm  7107 W Sunset Blvd, Hollywood CA, 90046

IMATS: 2017

It came and went and I was up front and center. The International Makeup Artist Trade Show (IMATS), is a hub for makeup artist to visit with  thousands of fellow artist working in film, TV, fashion and the red carpet.

The first original IMATS opened its doors in Los Angeles in 1997, and has since become the go-to event to stock up on supplies, mingle with fellow artist and learn new techniques from youtube gurus and celebrity makeup artist.

This year's event had amazing rows of brands, such as: Dose of Colors, Tarte, Kat Von D, Sigma, Anastasia Beveryly Hills, CoverFX, Wolfe, Koko and Violet Voss; and this is ONLY naming a few.

Sigma Beauty

Skindinivia

Bad Medina

Lit Cosmetics

Crimes of Beauty

Violet Voss

In addition to GREAT shopping, snagging samples and getting VIP Treatment from brands such as Dose of Colors, Kat Von D and Skindinavia -- it was pretty incredible to meet amazing makeup artist, Evelyn @evilyn_mua and Lilit @makeupbylilit .

The fun didn't stop there. Dozens of "creatures" and "heroes" walked around the convention center floor captivating on-lookers with their unique prosthetics.

Additionally, Make-Up Artist magazine, which produces IMATS hosted Oscar winner Joel Harlow, as he led a panel discussion on unique make up tactics and creations from movie sets such as Star Trek Beyond. As a makeup artist for 30 plus years, Harlow has witnessed remarkable cutting-edge makeup for high-caliber films and television projects.  Oh, and let's not forget, he's Johnny Depp's make-up artist. (SWOON!)

I digress. The IMATS was perfection this year and although it's never disappointed me before, every year has a different energy, a different vibe and this one radiated upwards. Until next year!
